How old are you... (or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?
I am 31 years old and was 30 at the time of the shoot.
What do you do for a living?
I currently work with the school board as a therapeutic assistant in behaviour therapy but am working on a career change and am in school for payroll.
What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?
I decided to look into doing a shoot while I was in a relationship with someone but ended up booking the session as something for myself. It was a way for me to try to feel comfortable in my own skin and embrace who I am.
Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?
I always thought my BDSM interest would hinder the session, but instead, it was embraced. I also have very strong body insecurities that I thought would affect my photos.
Why did you choose me?
I looked at and messaged a bunch of pages. However, you were the only one who related to my concerns about my lack of self-confidence. You were open about your own struggles, which instantly made me feel more comfortable.
Where did you find me?
I found you on Facebook; however, I found most of your work on Instagram.
How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?
It was AMAZING! You made me feel super comfortable and encouraged me. It wasn't like you were there just to get a paycheck—you were there to help inspire and promote a fun environment where I was able to embrace who I was.
During the shoot, what kinds of thoughts were running through your mind?
I don't know all the thoughts that were running through my mind. I think a lot of it was, Are these really going to turn out nice? along with Wow, this is insanely fun! (And well, funny, considering you got a picture of me in my element while giving the middle finger.)
What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (Makeover, the shoot, seeing images, etc.)
I loved the makeover as it made me instantly feel more confident, but I won’t lie—doing the shoot was A BLAST. I absolutely loved it. I was confident yet able to laugh and enjoy it. I was able to relate and talk to you, which made it more fun.
What is your advice for women interested in such a session?
DO IT. Even if you are lacking confidence, it helps you view yourself in a completely different way and builds you up. Katie is also AMAZING at helping you reframe how you look at yourself. Also, do it for YOURSELF. If it is for anyone else, that’s a bonus, but do it for you.
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?
Yes, absolutely. I see now the beautiful things my body has done. I understand now more than ever that our bodies help share our story, and we need to embrace that and not hide it.
What does success mean to you?
I think success means feeling confident in what you are doing, but also always being willing to learn and grow. Success means believing in yourself and not giving up.
Is there anything else I could do to make this experience absolutely perfect?
Honestly, I have zero complaints about my entire experience. You were absolutely amazing and made me feel confident and sexy in who I was.
